What I packed in my hospital bag

written by Bella Drew 16 October 2017

I consider myself as being very organised.

At around 30 weeks I decided to think about my hospital bag.

I searched the internet and made a giant list of everything that numerous mums suggested were actually essential and things that they never used.

Im such an over-packer and this is the one time I didn’t want to overpack.

I prepared a labour bag (well let’s be honest, it was a small suitcase).

I bought some packing cubes to help organise my bags as I had a feeling that in the heat of the moment we wouldn’t be able to find anything that I packed. I also added some labels to make it easier for Conor to find things if needed.

  • Socks
  • Vest Tops
  • Birthing dress
  • PJ bottoms
  • Leggings & Top (Going home)
  • Slippers
  • Pads (I took way too many, one or two would have been enough)

Im not really surprised but I used all of this.

I’ve crossed out the things that never got used so it makes it a little clearer.

Looking back, I really don’t think I packed badly. Yes, alot of the baby items weren’t used but I had to pack a few sizes as I didn’t know how big she would be.

My advice for any first time mum packing her hospital bag is to repack it at least twice and cut down on what you would need.
